Brimstone and Caterpillar is a vintage postcard illustrated by English artist Millicent Sowerby (1878–1967).
The illustration shows a winged fairy above a caterpillar and plants and is signed M. Sowerby in the lower right corner.
A verse beneath the illustration reads:
Yellow are my wings as butter,
Over every flower I flutter;
For I feel it is my duty
To bewitch them with my beauty.

The Pretty Wings Series
The reverse identifies the postcard as part of the Pretty Wings series. It was published by Humphrey Milford, London, and states that it was designed and printed in Great Britain.
Humphrey Milford was publisher to Oxford University Press, while Millicent Sowerby was an English illustrator known for her work on children’s books and postcards. Her book illustrations included a 1907 edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
The postcard has a divided back with separate spaces for correspondence and the address.
